Liz Cutrona

Chief of Staff

As chief of staff, Liz Cutrona is responsible for strengthening enterprise execution, leadership alignment, and organizational coherence in service of students and members. Liz and her team focus on translating College Board’s strategic priorities into coordinated action that enables mission impact.

Liz joined College Board in 2024 as vice president of AP Instructional Design, where she led efforts to strengthen course quality, expand access, and improve college and career readiness through disciplined, research-based design.

Prior to College Board, Liz served as deputy superintendent of strategy and academics and later chief of staff for Detroit Public Schools Community District, one of the nation’s most closely watched urban districts, during a period of financial recovery and academic rebuilding. While there, she worked closely with the superintendent and board to set strategic direction, oversee academic and operational redesign, lead data and technology transformation, and build enterprise systems to improve student outcomes at scale. She previously served as assistant superintendent of strategic planning and partnerships in Duval County Public Schools and spent nearly a decade at TNTP, advising districts across the country on academic strategy, human capital systems, and organizational effectiveness.

Liz holds a bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College. She lives in Detroit.
